  • The Notary Public may need to speak with the signer one on one, preferably alone, to ask safety questions in the event the notary believes the signer is not lucid, incoherent, confused, upset  OR does not understand why they are signing any document. 
  • The Notary Public has a right to refuse services under any unsafe, suspicious or threatening circumstances to the signer or themselves, and will inform the proper government authorities. 
  • The Notary Public must see that the signer is signing of their own volition, is lucid and cognizant, as well as understand what and why they are being asked to sign certain document(s).  ​
  • The Notary Public must be able to freely communicate with the signer. If your loved one needs hearing assistance please make these arrangements prior to your scheduled appointment.
